Pretty Reckless have top end trouble -revisited.

I just bought the latest Pretty Reckless album, ‘Who You Selling For’. Great album, I like all of the songs, some great original ideas on there along with some strong nods to Queen, The Stones, The Temptations and Janis Joplin. More good news is that ‘the top end trouble’ I mentioned in a previous post has been banished, the sonics on this album are smooth, heading in the direction of vinyl but with the added benefits of state of the art digital sound. I wish they’d separate the bass lines out a little more though at the mix stage. Taylor’s voice somehow continues to get even better, smokey, powerful, subtle, beautiful soft tones, harsh aggressive ones, its all there and I love the Janis Joplin type feel in ‘Already Dead’.
Anyway fantastic album, I don’t have a favourite song yet, there are as usual loads, I have though, the perfect artwork for their next album in my painting – ‘The Last Judgement of Pope Francis’.
